Payment options

Choose how customers pay you — e-transfer or card payments — and set tax, minimums, and tips.

How you get paid is set under Settings → Ordering & Payments. This guide covers the payment methods you can accept and the checkout settings that go with them.

Order methods

First, decide how customers can order. You can turn each of these on or off:

  • Online ordering — accept orders through your menu page at all.
  • Pickup — let customers pick up their orders.
  • Delivery — let customers order to their address. See Delivery and drivers.

Payment methods

Then choose how customers pay. Depending on your setup you can accept:

  • Card — customers pay by card at checkout.
  • Cash — customers pay in person on pickup or delivery.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay — fast mobile payment at checkout.

Turn on the methods you actually support. If you take payment in person, cash keeps things simple; if you want to be paid before the customer arrives, card is the way.

E-transfer

Some restaurants collect payment by e-transfer. In that setup the customer places the order and sends payment to you directly, and you reconcile it on your side. E-transfer keeps you off card processing fees but means you handle collection and any refunds yourself, customer to customer.

Card payments and payouts

Accepting card payments online means the money is processed and paid out to you. The full setup for card processing and payouts — connecting your account, fees, and issuing refunds on card orders — is covered in Card payments and payouts.

Checkout settings

A few settings on the same page apply to every order:

  • Tax rate — the tax applied at checkout.
  • Minimum order — the smallest order total you will accept.
  • Tip options — the tip percentages offered to customers at checkout.

Set these to match how you operate before you go live, and confirm them by placing a test order.
