Delivery and drivers

Turn on delivery, set your delivery area and fees, and manage the drivers who deliver your orders.

If you deliver, PayperPlates handles the delivery side of an order — from letting customers order to their address, to getting the food to their door. This guide covers turning delivery on, pricing it, and managing drivers.

Turn on delivery

Delivery is one of your order methods, set under Settings → Ordering & Payments. Turn Delivery on to let customers choose it at checkout; turn it off to offer pickup only. You can offer pickup, delivery, or both.

Set your delivery area and fees

Under Settings → Delivery you control where and for how much you deliver:

  • Delivery radius — how far from your restaurant you will deliver.
  • Delivery fee — a flat fee added to delivery orders.
  • Delivery zones — optional distance-based pricing rings. Give each zone a name, a distance, and its own fee, so nearer customers pay less than farther ones. Zones are applied from nearest to farthest.

A customer entering an address outside your area is told delivery is not available to them, so you never take an order you cannot deliver.

The Driver Hub

The Driver Hub (under Drivers in your admin) is where delivery orders are dispatched and tracked. It shows your live delivery orders and, when you deliver in-house, where your drivers are.

In-house drivers

You can run your own drivers. Add drivers to your restaurant, and when a delivery order is ready you assign it to a driver, who gets the order and the customer's address on their phone. Drivers sign in to a dedicated driver portal built for on-the-road use — see the note below.

Drivers use a separate, mobile-friendly portal to see their assigned deliveries, rather than the full admin dashboard. When you add a driver, they get access to that portal to claim and complete the deliveries you assign them.

Third-party delivery

If you would rather not run your own drivers, PayperPlates can hand delivery orders to a third-party courier service instead, configured in the Driver Hub. This lets you offer delivery without staffing drivers yourself. Setup for third-party dispatch is handled in the Driver Hub's settings.
